Skies of Callisto is an 18+ Adult Sim with dark themes. Your characters and avatars must be adults both physically and mentally. Child avatars will be ejected and banned.
Vibe Check
Skies of Callisto is a freeform para to semi-para roleplay sim with adult and dark themes. We do not tolerate ooc harassment of any kind. We are happily LGBTQ+ friendly. You are more than welcome to play a villain but that behavior should never cross into OOC interactions.

We view roleplay as collaborative storytelling. Everyone should have a moment to shine and our overall goal is to provide a framework for people to tell the stories they want to make together.

RP Guidelines & Etiquette
Para (Paragraph) and Semi-Para RP
What constitutes Para RP varies from individual to individual and often even from scene to scene. Skies of Callisto is targeted at Para/Semi-para RP and players are encouraged to write Paragraph-length RP posts including narrative and dialog. Please be patient with other posters who may take more or less time to post.
Post Order
While it is good etiquette to adhere to a semblance of post order so as to let everyone participate in scenes, strict post order is not required outside of conflict scenes. This is particularly true in large or crowded scenes where post order generally is conversation to conversation. This however, should not be used as an excuse to ignore others' RP.
Walk Up RP and Loitering
OOC loitering is frowned upon outside of the landing area and personal RP spaces such as rentals. Most players welcome walk-up RP and if you are standing around on sim in a public area, it is generally assumed that you are available for walk up RP and engagement. If there is a scene in progress with two or more people and you wish to join that scene, it is important to be aware of what the tone of that scene is that you are posting into. We recommend strongly reaching out in IMs to one of the players or waiting a round of posts before jumping in so that you are aware of the ongoing situation.

You are, of course, welcome to loiter in your personal rental or at the landing point freely. Also, when checking out the sim as a visitor, you are welcome to put on an OOC titler to look around our sim.
OOC Communication
OOC Communication: The amount of OOC communication expected in a roleplaying sim on Second Life varies widely from sim to sim. Here, at Skies of Callisto, we encourage healthy OOC communication. Reach out early and often in IMs to players you wish to run scenes with and determine the narrative goals of scenes in a mutually satisfactory manner.
One should not assume OOC knowledge IC without clearing it with the relevant players, nor pressure players into fulfilling a role in YOUR desired story at the detriment of their own. We view roleplaying as collaborative storytelling where there is no winning or losing at roleplay. Your story may have moments where your character wins or loses but we hope the players enjoy the entire narrative experience of crafting their story.
Conflict RP and Consequences
Outcomes of conflict based scenes should be determined by the narrative goal of the scene and performed to the comfort level of involved players. The degree of injuries sustained, or loss of autonomy, and consequences should be within related player comfort levels. OOC Communication here is key to making certain that the outcome is desired on all sides of a conflict and that the lasting consequences are satisfactory to all involved. When more randomness is desired Conflict dice HUD and Rules are available as well.
'Empty' RP Posts
Posts should include details for other players to react to and engage with. Give people a reason to interact with you if you are in a scene. This includes not merely posting mental observations or a character’s internal monologue but something that provides those you are interacting with a chance to respond. What does your character’s expression reflect of their internal thoughts, what is their mood, their actions, etc. If your character is trying to sneak after someone, you should write them attempting to listen in or follow and how they are attempting to do just that rather than staying entirely in your character’s thoughts for the post.
