Naoki (脩生) Sato (彩人)

Naoki is known to be a Jikininki, a corpse-eater yokai. While technically true, those with more sight into the nature of the supernatural may glean that that is only half his heritage and there is yet some humanity to the man behind the impassive face and cold demeanor. Long before the shattering of the death gate the young Jikininki had been a slight terror to the populace, feeding on beast and human alike until being captured and taken in by Professor Lex Dashrix to be disciplined and formed into a proper member of society. 

After years within the enigmatic walls of Dashrix Manor, Naoki emerged as the Hermetic mage's detached but functional apprentice, assisting with his workings both with the university and with others on the island. Those privy to more details about the Professor's work may be aware that he assisted in the creation of Thirteen, with whom he now shares as close to a romantic relationship as the dead boy is capable and with whom he conceived Ichi. In the present Naoki acts as the Professor's right hand, working more closely and with more access to the ancient mage's life than others can claim. He sometimes assists with Necromancy classes at the Academy much to his chagrin and is often sent to investigate matters relating to the inability of the dying to truly pass. Despite being more productive, disappearances of unfortunate and less likely to be missed inhabitants of the island hint that the creature still hunts, if more discerningly.
